DONATIONS

The Non-Custodial Parents Party (Equal Parenting) is a registered political party. We have no funding other than from our own pockets and donations. Donations are used for general running expenses and for supporting candidates at election time.

Election Expenses.

At Election time, it costs approximately $1,500 for each candidate.

For a Senate Candidate, this cost consists of $1000.00 for the candidate’s deposit plus nominal advertising costs of say $500.00 per candidate. A minimum of two (2) Senate Candidates are required for each State or Territory (this is so that we can “run above the line” on the ballot paper).

For a House of Representatives candidate, this cost consists of $500 for the candidate’s deposit plus nominal printing and advertising costs of say, $1000.00 per candidate.

We note that candidates’ election expenses are fully tax deductible. (Reference: Australian Tax Office TaxPack 2010 “Other deductions- Election Expenses- E”).

Personal Donations and Gifts.

We are registered with the Australian Electoral Commission, as a political party. This is under Part XI of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

We note that we also have recently passed the AEC three-yearly audit. This was conducted in early 2010.

In Australia, donations and gifts to registered political parties are tax deductible for the donor up to an amount of $1,500.00 (Ref ATO TaxPack 2010).
